Exodus 10 Pride goes before a Fall

Intro: We have now seen Egypt – struck by 7 Plagues – Pharaoh’s Heart remains hard –

10:1 Now the LORD said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, that I may show these signs of Mine before him,

  1. "and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son's son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD."
  1. Now we have noted before How the Lord was MEETING PHAROAH in his HARDNESS OF heart Ch. 9:34,35 I have sinned ….. Hard heart
  1. There is a Progression – But God knew all along 3:19
  1. God was flexing His muscles a bit – Show Pharaoh & Egypt

C) But not just them but Also Israel - that you may know that I am the LORD."

D)See Israel had gone through it’s Difficulty – 400 yrs Slave labor

  1. Now see the Deliverance of the Lord – they would have a TESTIMONY

E) I WANT YOU TO TELL YOUR KIDS WHAT I HAVE DONE

  1. So true – so often give me the Money Lord
  2. We want the Rainbow – but fail to realize the Rainbow comes after the Storm !!!
  3. Can I encourage you – don’t run from Test / Storms – ( God’s Plan)

Listen if you want your walk w/ the Lord to be RICH/ VIBRANT & AUTHENTIC – understand that doesn’t come from 2nd hand theology

  1. Doesn’t come from reading some Book – Deep truths
  2. Don’t really know if those truths / applications are true Until Experienced

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

19 and KNOW what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Put it to the test -

A BIBLE THAT IS FALLING APART – USUALLY BELONGS TO SOMEONE WHO LIFE PROBALLY ISN’T !!!!!! TRUE – ( repeat)

 

Why is that True ? Well the Bible speaks of the God’s word in the Book of Jeremiah – Being like a Hammer

  1. A hammer ? Yes – The word of God is like a Hammer Because it Breaks apart the hard pieces of our Hearts
  2. Which causes you to become flexible to the working of God’s spirit & the Desire of His Will !!!!
  1. So the Bible is Like a Hammer
  1. But James declared that it is also like a Mirror – that allows us to see the very image of God / His Character / His Attributes / His Glory
  1. And as we behold the Glory of God we see the condition of our own lives & there is a Genuine Desire to bring about a Change
  1. So the Bible is Like a MIRROR

 

BUT in the book of Hebrews 4:12 we read that the Bible is like a Sword – a Double edged sword - piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  1. The emphasis is on the power of the Word to penetrate and expose the inner heart of man.

B) The Word is a "discerner" or "critic."-It not only analyzes all the facts perfectly, but all motives, and intentions, and beliefs as well.

    1. All disguises will be ripped off and only the real person will be seen

 

 

But the word is also compared to water in Eph. 5 – Like water it refreshes & washes & cleanses Your Soul & your Mind !!!

  1. But if it is not a Hammer / Mirror / Sword or even water – maybe it in Your Life it has been like a Seed
  2. Jesus spoke of the word in this way in Matt. 13 that God sows or plants in your Heart
  1. A single truth that has been planted in your life that you although to take root & grab a hold of the rest of who you are !!!!!
  1. So that your life begins to Change & bear fruit for the Lord & the Change is so Monumental that People take Notice
  1. The Seed is turned into a large Tree where others can take Refuge

 

Now the way that we respond to the Word of God – Determines if it is going to have those types of affect in our Lives

  1. Pharaoh resisted – reason Pride

3 So Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, "Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
  1. His Patience has a Limit / 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me?
  1. That is the issue w/ most people – Pride / they know better
  1. Teaching youth camp – Greatness of our Lord
  1. Thinking Driving down – Mts. / Oceans /
  1. Little Man – we have it all figured out !!!!!

90% of counseling not giving New INSIGHTS - but reminding people of what they already know but refuse to do v.4-7

Pharaoh is going to take this advice / ( Partially ) – How you hear

  1. Pharaoh the operative word was the men – let the men go!!!!
  2. Interesting hear what we want to hear !!!
  1. Test – A woman w/out her man is nothing
  1. Men hear: A woman, w/out her man, is nothing
  1. Women hear – A woman , w/out her, man is nothing
  1. Pharaoh said – Good idea I will let the Men Go

  1. We live in a Culture where Teenage boys – open fire on class mates at school

According to the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee

The U.S. is the most violent civilized nation in the world For youths,.

One in five high school students frequently come to school armed.

  1. The FBI says high schoolers have been killing each other or

somebody else at a rate of more than a thousand a year.

    1. In any given day in the US / 13 kids die from guns / 30 are wounded

/ 307 are arrested for crimes of violence

Problems w/ Sexual immorality ? Same report said On a given day in America 480 teenagers get a STD / 1,115 teenagers have abortions / 2,781 teens get pregnant / 8,400 teens become sexually active

And because of Stats like that many "Experts" say that there is no hope for this Generation – But that is not what God says at all !!!!

  1. Prayer – we are seeking the Lord – How better reach Kids
  2. So Moses says we are all going & Pharaoh responds v. 10 –15
  3. Note it is Like Winter !!!!! ( Happens to the Person – ignores the Word )

Contrast that w/ Psalm 1

  1. Applies it to His Life !!!!!!

  2. Prays it in – Becomes the Guidepost of how He is going to Live

Plague of Darkness –

  1. 3 days of Darkness - ( So Dark you could feel it )
  2. 3 Hours of Darkness – ( Calvary )
  3. 3 days in the hearts of the Apostles - ( Light Shown – Risen)

Light in the Homes of Israel - Shekinah / Kabod –

2Cor. 4: 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
  1. Jesus is the Light of the World – shinning in us

1John 1: 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

John 3: 19 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

21 "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

 

Lesson Children of Darkness those who love Darkness Rather than light have Darkness Assigned to them

1st Spiritual darkness

2nd Mental Darkness - Demented ( Well lit Bars )

3rd Eventually Physical darkness –

But those who Love light have light for their Portion

1st Spiritual Light – Illumination

2nd Mental Light – Sound mind – sees things w/ Eternal Perspective

3rd – Physical light – heavenly reward – see Jesus -
