Now here in this section dealing w/
MURDER- The Lord makes an interesting Statement – Concerning Blood
A)V.33
The Blood of that Person actually DEFILES the Land
!!!!
B) There is a defilement upon that land – because of the person who was slain /
1)
We understand that – Think about Sabre Springs : That community has
been Defiled Blood of Danielle V.
Cries out for Justice :
C)
Here that name Sabre Springs not a Pleasant thought that comes to our
minds
1)
Santee High School – Been Defiled – People who still have a hard time
driving by that School
D) Littleton Colorado – Been Defiled – Blood has
been Shed
1)
Vietnam
: The list could go on & on !!! The Blood of those who were slain sends a
message of Depravity/ Injustice / Greed
& Wickedness
In the Story of Cain & Abel/ After
Cain slew his brother Abel – The Lord confronted Cain & declared to
him: Gen 4:10
"What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground.
A)The Blood of Abel was crying out to God : The book of Hebrews written over 2,000 yrs later – says the Blood of Abel still speaks
B) The Blood of Abel speaks of Murder : Of the damage that can be done when there is Jealousy & Bitterness
1)
When
someone is not right w/ the Lord – which were the main reasons that Cain Slew
his brother Abel / The Blood of Abel still speaks
C)
/ But the book of Hebrews also declares in ch.12:24 There is one who’s blood
was Shed that speaks of Better things than the
Blood of Abel – JESUS
We sit here today over 2,000 yrs have passed since our Lord
was brutally Murdered / Unjustly nailed to a Cross
A)But
the Blood of Jesus still speaks loudly & powerfully today : Especially to
everyone who has put their faith in Him
There
is a saying among Italian sculptors, who often miss the chisel and hit their
own hands with the hammer: "When the
blood flows out, the mastery enters." It was so with Jesus
Christ. It was his death on Calvary that made him the master of our souls.
B)
For the rest of our time this morning I want us to consider the message of the
Blood of Christ – What does it say to us !!!!
1)
6
verses that speak to us loud & clear of what the Blood of Jesus says today
– to those who would put their faith in Christ
#1 Mark 14:24: The Blood of Jesus tells
us that He has Established a New Cov. -
SCENE: LAST SUPPER
24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.
A)The
Old Cov said do : It was based on my
Performance { FLAWED
B)
The New Cov. Said Done – based on His
Performance {FAITHFUL
1)
Abe & Cov w/ God
– animals slain – be as them – Abe asleep
C)
The Old Cov
– Provided that the blood of a lamb be slain in order to COVER - a persons sin
1)
The OC required a constant sacrifices
day after day / year after year
D)
The New Cov Jesus is the Lamb that was slain / ONCE FOR ALL & ONCE &
FOR ALL – No need for more sacrifices
1) His blood doesn’t cover our sins – true Atonement
{ AT-ONE- MENT
Performance
not ours / Based on His Sacrifice not ours
#2 The Blood of Jesus Declares we are Justified:
Rom 5:9
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
A)The Word Justification in the greek is Dikaioo . It is a term of Jurisprudence - It is a legal term
1) It means more than the judge simply declaring that you have been forgiven / but it means that the Judge declares you Righteous
B) The Judge Declares you RIGHT ON !!!!! Just as if You never Sinned !!
C) Lets says some kids here at the Church were accused of stealing something out of the Church.
1) They weren’t caught in the act – but all the evidence pointed to the fact that they looked guilty –
D) We announced who they were – but said the Boys are repentive & we are going to Forgive them – Not Press Charges
1) When those boys came to Church at least for a while – They would feel ashamed when around/ Embarrassed – afraid to look people in the Eye
But If we announced that those boys who were wrongly
accused we caught the real thieve – They would be Justified
A)Now when come – Hold their heads High - Not Forgiven but Declared Righteous – RIGHT ON!!!
B) The Blood of Jesus Declares us Righteous – But here is the Twist –
1) We were guilty – But the Blood of Jesus applied to our sin – Removes that Sin Completely it is Gone
C) And in the eyes of the Father it is Just as if It never Happened
D)The Implication is Fantastic- I am no longer scared or embarrassed to come before God because I know that I have been Justified
1) Not Just FORGIVEN I have been DECLARED RIGHTEOUS
Consider the Contrast :
A)If I am only forgiven – my whole attitude is different I know that God forgave me but I feel like such a jerk /
B) Being around Him makes me feel uncomfortable / reminded of what I did
C) Lord
I am such jerk / I am such a loser / thank you for forgiving me / I will try
not to cause you any more trouble
D)But I am never ever going to seek to get close to the Lord
under those conditions
1) But when God declares – You are righteous / Justified – Your sins are forgiven & forgotten put as far as the E. from the West / Justified
E) Now I feel I am accepted & Welcome in the Family of God
1) So 2nd thing – The Blood of Jesus declares us Righteous {Justified
#3 The Blood declares that I am Valuable to God
– He Purchased Me Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of
sins, according to the riches of His grace
A)Redemption
– paying the price of a Ransom 1 Peter 1:18-19
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
A)Peter says that we were
not redeemed by corruptible things / silver or gold
But
by the Precious Blood of Christ – the Sacrificial lamb who was w/out spot or
Blemish
B) The Law was our Tyrant and our Master/
Bondage – and with it came a curse upon
everyone who was unable to Keep it
1)
So each & everyone of us was under the curse of the law
& doomed
Gal.3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of
the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who
hangs on a tree”)
C) The law had a dreadful curse;
it threatened that whosoever should violate one of its precepts, should die:
1) The fear of this curse, inflicted a continual dread on those who were under it; they knew they had disobeyed it
D) They were doomed to death & Destruction
1)But “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made
a curse for us.”
Now we are not under the law, but under grace, and consequently
“We
have
not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but we have received
the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry,“Abba, Father.”
A)We go from being Slaves to Sons / those who were Cursed to those who are Richly blessed / those who lived in fear to being those who are free
B) Those who
have obtained an inheritance as sons – Because we have been purchased by God –
w/ the Blood of His own dear Son
1) Brought into
the Family as Sons & Daughters
C)
CHS Never forget the three whats.
What from? Believers are redeemed from Curse of the Law
: Which is hell destruction.
D) What by? By the precious blood of Christ.
1)
What to? To an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and
that will not fade away.
E) So #3 The Blood of Jesus
Declares that we are Valuable to God – His Purchased Possession – He paid the
Ultimate price for !! The Price of Blood
#4 1 John 1:7 The Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin
A)Everyone
is familiar with Murphy's Law, "If anything can go wrong, it will."
That has spawned a whole set of such tongue-in-cheek laws.
B)
One of them is O'Reilly's Law of the Kitchen: "Cleanliness
is next to impossible."
1) We've all heard that cleanliness is next to godliness, but doesn't it sometimes seem that cleanliness is truly next to impossible?
C)
Spiritually Speaking – Nothing I can do to Cleanse myself & rid my self of
the guilt that I experience because of Sin
1)
Sin has a directly defiling
affect upon a person – the world’s worst & deadly disease – It is always – FATAL
D) Spiritual cleanliness is only
possible through the grace of God, AND by the blood of Christ.
1) There is a fountain filled w/ Blood that flows from
the Saviors veins and no matter how great the offense
“Though
your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red
like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
A)It is the song of heaven, — “We have washed our robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
B) Hebrews 9:14 The Blood of Christ has cleansed our Conscience from dead works to serve the Living God !!!!!!
Charles
Finney was preaching in a great revival in Detroit. After the service one night
a man said "I want you to come home w/ me, …….
Don't go - but he went.
When
they got to the man's house,/ the man
locked the door, and pulled a revolver from his pocket. He said - "Don't be afraid, Mr. Finney. I am not going to shoot
you.
I
heard you preach tonight about the Lord Jesus Christ. This revolver has killed
four men. Is there any hope for a man like that?"
Mr.
Finney replied, "The blood of Jesus Christ his
Son cleanses us from all sin"
The
man answered - "You don't understand, Mr. Finney.
Down below this apartment where you are sitting there is a saloon. I have
helped send men down the road to hell; I have helped
men to rob their own children of food and milk. Is there any hope for a
man who would run a saloon?"
Finney replied, The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin
The man continued, I have been a gambler all my
life. I
have spent my life taking money from people illegally. I there any hope for a
man like that?"Mr. Finney said, "The
blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin
The
man persisted. "Across the street there is a wife I have abused, a little
girl who is disfigured. One night I came home from gambling and drinking in a drunken stupor.
The child ran to put her arms around me and I pushed her away from me. She hit
the heater and is terribly disfigured. Is there any hope for a man like that?
Soon
thereafter Mr. Finney left. The next morning the man stumbled across the
street. He had not slept; he had prayed all night. When he got into the house
he stumbled up to his room.
In
a little while his wife said to the little girl - "Tell
your daddy it's time for breakfast"
She
went upstairs and said, "Mama says it's time
for breakfast"
The
man said, "Maggie darling, I don't want any
breakfast this morning.
She
ran back downstairs and said, "Mama, Daddy said
he did not want any breakfast this morning and he called me darling.”
The mother said,
You
made a mistake; you heard him wrong. Go back up there and tell him it's time
for breakfast.
In
a moment the man came down, took his wife in his arms and his little girl on
his knee. "O wife, he wept, I have sinned against
you like few men have ever sinned against anyone, but last night I heard the
preacher preach. I heard about Jesus and about the blood of Jesus.
The blood of
Jesus has cleansed me from all my sin. You have a new husband. Daughter, you
have a new daddy."
#5 REV 12:11 declares to us that The Blood of Jesus Silences the Accuser of the Brethren
Martin Luther had a dream in
which he stood on the day of judgment before God Himself--and Satan was there
to accuse him. When Satan opened his books full of
accusations, he pointed to transgression after transgression of which Luther
was guilty.
As the proceedings went on, Luther's heart sunk in despair. Then he remembered the cross of Christ--and turning upon Satan, he said, "There is one entry which you have not made, Satan."
The Devil retorted, "What
is that?" And Luther answered, "It is this--the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son,
cleanses us from all sins."
A)Luther’s dream has scriptural merit to it – because in Zech 3 Zech the Prophet has a dream or vision of Joshua the H. Priest standing before God 1) Dressed in Filthy garments which represent his sin – and Satan is there to Accuse him – ACCUSSER OF THE BRETHERN
B) But
the Lord rebukes the Devil – kicks Him out – takes off the filthy Robe of
Joshua’s Sin & puts on Him His own robe of Righteousness
1)
The Blood of Jesus –declares that the accuser has been Silenced
#6 Heb 10:19 The Blood of Jesus declares
that we have ACCESS to enter into God’s Presence
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by
the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us,
through the veil, that is, His flesh,
A)Not
Just Access but Boldness to enter into God’s Presence
Free
to worship
Eph
2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were
far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Nearness Intimacy
A)The Blood that declares that a New Cov has been established – No longer under the law but under grace { Not my Performance but His
B) The Blood that declares us Righteous { Right on in God’s eyes
C) The Blood that declares we are Valuable to God – Purchased Possession
D) The Blood that declares that we are Cleansed from every sin / Free Guilt
E) The Blood that has opened the door of Access where by we can come boldly before God & Enjoy intimacy w/ God
Now if you are here today & you have not received Christ
– You are under the OC – the Law – Pronounces you guilty – One sin – all sin
A)You are not Justified –
declared Righteous – But unrighteous doomed
B) Still in Bondage / Still Unclean / No Access to God whatsoever
But that can all Change today: Plead the Blood – Receive
Christ – embrace the Message His blood declares to you today
A)Cleansing Forgiveness /
Rightness / Access & Intimacy are available
PRAY
B) Warning: 1 Cor. 11
partaking of Communion in unworthy manner
1)Which means Stay in my sin – but partake anyway – I am acknowledging what Jesus did for me – but also acknowledging I don’t want it
C) ABSOLUTE INSULT
1 Cor 11:27-
27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of
the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord
29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to
himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this reason many are weak and
sick among you, and many sleep.
